Taking a Stand for Students with Needs

The NSW Parliament has called an inquiry into "the provision of education to students with a disability or special needs". The PSA has made a submission to this inquiry.

The submission is based on the results of a survey we conducted of SLSO members at the beginning of this year. Click here to see the main points in the survey that make up our submission.

To help improve the quality of education to students with specific needs, we are calling for:

All School Learning Support Officers to be given permanency
Children to be assessed based on their functioning capacity
More funding to support students with needs
Better access to counselling and support services for students
Recognition of students with multiple disabilities
